About Us
Jack A Frost Ltd., a family owned business has been a key
player in the Canadian entertainment industry since 1957. When Bill and Ella
Finch purchased the company from Mr. Frost in the mid 1970’s, they expanded
the business to include mobile power. With Len Finch as president, Frost has
deepened its commitment to the performing arts, by expanding its range of
services which include specifying, supplying, installing, servicing, and renting
lighting, sound, rigging and drapery systems.
Over the years, the company has been involved in many exciting
projects. Some have been temporary, like providing the electrical power for
three climbs of Mount Everest, the Ali-Bugner fight in Malaysia, and the Pope’s
Cross-Canada tour. Most projects have involved permanent installations.
Many prominent television studios have been outfitted with
dimming and control systems by Frost. The CBC in Toronto and Montreal, CTV in
Toronto and Ottawa, CITY-TV, MTV, and Global, for example are ongoing customers
of Jack A. Frost Ltd. In fact, CBC stations from Halifax to Victoria purchase
consumable goods from Frost.
Our professional theatre customers include the National Arts
Centre, the Shaw Festival, The Canadian Stage Company and the Stratford
Shakespearean Festival. Community Theatres and universities also benefit from
the expertise and friendly service at Frost.
Frost has installed Full Performance systems for many school
boards utilizing the broad range of equipment that we represent. With our
extensive line of products Frost is a complete supplier of all technical theatre
and studio requirements. We offer state-of-the-art computerised equipment that
is affordable to high schools, enabling students to gain the invaluable
hands-on-experience they need to succeed in the demanding world of entertainment

To round out our full service commitment to the performing
arts industry, Jack A. Frost Ltd. provides rental equipment, equipment servicing
and training workshops. Frost maintains a well-stocked, competitively-priced
rental department. Our service department is well equipped and staffed by
knowledge professionals and ready to service equipment of any brand or vintage.
The training workshops that we have developed, for everyone from beginners to
experts, are received enthusiastically everywhere they are presented.
